Crisis Resources for Music Industry Professionals
If you are struggling and need immediate support, this page can help you find the right resource quickly. It includes crisis lines, substance use support, therapy resources, and a few tools you can use in the moment.
Are You in Crisis?

Looking for a Provider Who Gets the Music World?
If you are looking for ongoing therapy rather than crisis support, Musician Therapy Studio provides mental health therapy for musicians, performers, crew, studio professionals, and other creative professionals in Colorado.
Sessions are available in person in Arvada or online anywhere in Colorado.
Music Industry Support
Backline connects people in the music industry with mental health and wellness resources, including case management, a therapist network, support groups, and other resources. Their services can be especially useful when you need support that is specific to working in music.
Substance Use and Recovery Support
If substance use is becoming difficult to manage, you can reach out before things reach a crisis point. There are resources for immediate support, treatment, recovery meetings, and other forms of help.
SAMHSA National Helpline
Call 1-800-662-HELP (4357) for information about mental health and substance use treatment options.
Recovery Meetings
Find an AA meeting or find an NA meeting if a peer-support meeting is what you are looking for.
Quick Tools You Can Use Anywhere
These tools are not a substitute for crisis care, but they can sometimes help you get through an intense moment while you decide what support you need next.
Box Breathing
Breathe in for four seconds, hold for four, exhale for four, then hold for four. Repeat for several rounds if it feels comfortable.
5-4-3-2-1
Name five things you can see, four you can touch, three you can hear, two you can smell, and one you can taste.
Outside Reset
Step outside if it is safe to do so. Notice the air on your skin, your feet on the ground, and one thing you can see in your surroundings. Take a few slow breaths.
Cold Sensation
Hold something cool, such as a cold drink or a cool washcloth, and focus your attention on the sensation. Stop if the sensation becomes painful or uncomfortable.
If You Need More Than a Quick Tool
You do not have to wait for a crisis to get support. Anxiety, depression, burnout, substance use, relationship problems, and overwhelming stress can all be reasons to reach out for professional help.
